Summary of ‘The Charge of the Light Brigade’. I will tell you what I told him.heros never come home. My son once asked me after asking me about my service if I was a hero. After having been there on battlefields of all sorts during my life I still reflect on how much love underlines the bravado of war. The civilian with mouth agape and in awe knows it is somthing great or as some have posted dumb. The sacrafice The Brave 600 gave is what so awes the civilian but for the soldier he knows why they went, they each as individuals would not let their brothers go without him and so to the man they rode into the mouth of hell and they rode as one.not for duty honor or reward, but for love. Words like Duty and Honor get a soldier to the battlefield but it is Love that keeps him there and compels him to return time after time. All soldiers know the simple fact that once the killing does start his primary role is to live, live, live and often that soldier thinks more about the lives of those around him, his brothers, who you develope a love for that cannot be explained until you have walked a battle field during the battle, rather than afterwards. Soceity has turned being a warrior into killing, killing, killing. The Medal Of Honor is almost always posthumous for a reason. The highest honors given on the battlefield are always for selflessness not selfishness.
